When people ask me what it means to be Dangerously Patriotic, that can encompass many various definitions depending on the topic. Early on when we created this ethos, we came up with this very fitting answer: Dangerously (adverb): Boldly. Without hesitation. Patriotic (adjective): Love of country. Defense of its values. However, I like to point to the image of George Washington crossing a frozen river on Christmas to attack our enemies in the name of Freedom. That truly embodies the spirit of what it means to be Dangerously Patriotic.
Patriotism is a pillar of our nation, and unfortunately, that has been waning. We need to bring this back and make it a mainstay. You shouldn’t be forced to stand for the National Anthem, but you should WANT to. You should have a NEED inside that makes you. That is Patriotism acted out.
Being Patriotic means you love your country. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you love your government though. Our own founding fathers intended for our nation to be great, but the government to be limited. And for good reason, time and time again the government has shown it is not to be trusted.
Our great nation was also born on rebellion. The “Rebellious Stripes” were a symbol of the Sons Of Liberty. Those 9 stripes stood for the original colonies that were rebelling against the Tyranny of England. Those 9 stripes grew to 13, and were how we got the 13 stripes on the American Flag. Our Founding Fathers knew when to stand up against Tyranny and stand on values and principles. We have lost that ability and desperately need to bring it back if our great country will survive.
